Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are serviced by Kern County Superintendent of Schools. It is a low income special education program that services students who are diagnosed with moderate to severe Autism. The students in my class are mainly severe. They struggle with basic skills such as communicating and interest in academic tasks.I use many items in my class such as manipulatives and various personal rewards systems to keep my students on task.
When I am able to have my students get engaged in a subject it is such a great joy.
My students require a personal earning system that is tailored to them and their specific needs. With this need comes alot of use of velcro and laminations as well as manipulative items and matching bins to keep them following directions and making good decisions.
To be able to further service and keep my students having items that will help them learn and be engaged I am always updating and creating new things. Funding is always helpful when their is a need in the classroom.
My Project
The materials and classroom supplies I am requesting are necessity to help my classroom function, I myself use these supplies to teach on a daily basis. I laminate items so that my students are able to have an accessible and reusable materials. Also to prevent my students from ripping them which in an Autism classroom can be a daily struggle but I wouldn't want to teach anywhere else. My students require multiple supports and procedures to enable them to have a great learning experience. The clipboard I have requested will be used to keep my student data on.
The walking ropes will allow me to bring structure and calm to our chaotic lines.
It is not always easy to have my ducks get in their rows. With this I plan to teach my students how to line up so that we can all remain together and safe. It is a vital concept that I want my students to learn so when they are in the community with parents as well as when we go on our field trips they can remain close and safe in any situation. I will implement and use these ropes on a daily basis multiple times a day.
