This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from mostly low-income families. They have so many challenges that they face at home, but when they come into my classroom, I create a warm, loving, and welcoming environment where they are all free to be themselves. My classroom consists of 20 inquisitive, creative, and joyful kindergarten students. My students have a joy for learning that I help them grow through engaging hands-on activities and exposure to literature. I love that my students question everything and they relate everything they learn to their real life.
My students get up every day and come to class with the desire to learn something new.
My school is a high-poverty, Title I school, which means that one hundred percent of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. My class consists of multi-leveled learners from multi-ethnic backgrounds with distinctive cultural traditions.
I love to see the smiles on my students’ faces when they read their first book. Please help me purchase the resources needed to make sure all my students experience the joy of reading.
My Project
When a students has all the supplies needed to start their day, they are more likely to come in to class ready to learn. I am asking for jumbo pencils for my class because they are perfect for the students to write with that have difficulty gripping the regular pencils. I am also asking for chart paper which will be used to make anchor charts for my class. I will use the letter blocks to help students practice spelling words. I also asked for Clorox wipes because it is the time of year where everyone is sneezing and coughing. The Clorox wipes will be used to wipe the tables that the students sit at to limit their exposure to germs that could make them sick.
