Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I provide speech-language therapy in a Title I elementary school that serves students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and languages. This year, I have over 50 students on my therapy caseload. My students work so hard towards their speech and language goals and objectives! I like to incorporate hands-on learning opportunities for my students. I would like to add more organizational tools and additional hands-on materials to our speech room to make learning organized, but fun!

The storage bins, lamination pouches, spark cards, articulation chipper chat, and basketball hoop requested in this project will help to foster participation in my speech therapy room!

The storage bins will help organize and make the most of the space in my small classroom. I am looking forward to adding the spark cards and articulation chipper chat manipulatives to my speech room - they are organized, pre-made activities that I know support success... I have used them before! Lastly, what would be cooler than a mini basketball hoop in the speech therapy room?! I think this would be a great motivator/reward to increase participation and get more articulation trials from my students.

As I've stated numerous times before, if manipulatives are engaging, students will be more likely to actively participate during speech therapy. These supplies will help my students become better communicators and more productive citizens.
