My Students
My 2nd grade students are currently learning in a blended setting. Throughout this pandemic, my students show up to school, in person and remote learning days, excited to learn. Their eagerness to be an active participant in their learning and ability to adjust to the new school setting is amazing. With a split school schedule, I want to makes sure that when my students are home, they are equipped with the reading and math tools they need to excel.
My Project
The math and reading supplies will help increase student engagement and academic achievement during remote learning. NYC is currently experiencing a school shut down. My co-teacher and I have been able to give high quality instruction during the blended model of teaching, however we acknowledge the limitations once we transition to fully remote learning.
My students are in need of math and reading materials during remote instruction.
The ability for my students to have tactile math materials, while learning new concepts, are essential for mastery of the subject.
There is also no substitute for real books. It is essential that my students have an authentic reading experience with books in their hands to grow as readers.
