This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I school in Hilton Head, SC. Our students are a wonderful group despite their personal challenges. They come from low income families with many issues in their personal lives. Most of these students get free breakfast and lunch at the school. The come to school each day eager to learn and do their best and enjoy the warm, secure environment of our school. Most of the students could not afford the necessary school supplies to start the school year and the few that did willingly share. I would like to get needed items that students will use every day.

My Project

We are a low income school in South Carolina and my students started this school year without or with minimal basic supplies.

I am requesting basic supply items which the students cannot afford that the students need and will use in class to supplement the work we are doing to close the learning gap.

I do a lot of work with interactive notebooks for student engagement which necessitates cutting and gluing in a notebook. The scissors will allow each student to have their own pair of scissors for this instead of having to share.

We use many online programs to help students close the learning gap experienced during the last two years due to COVID. My students can not afford headphones to listen to their devices while in the classroom so they usually turn the volume way down so they don't bother others. I am not sure they are getting as much sound as they need.

We need pencils because we started the year with very few supplies since many students could not afford to purchase school supplies. We are close to running out and need replacements for the classroom.
