Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students learn best when math feels visual, interactive, and supportive rather than intimidating. The Surface keyboard and stylus allow me to model mathematical thinking clearly and in real time, so students can see each step of the process and ask questions as they arise. This immediate feedback helps build confidence and understanding, especially for students who struggle with abstract concepts.

Hands-on tools like the jumbo magnetic unit circle, write-on/wipe-off unit circle mats, and algebra tiles help students move beyond memorization and truly understand how math works.

These materials let students explore, make mistakes, and revise their thinking in a low-stress way, which is essential for deep learning in higher-level math.

Math posters and bulletin board letters help create a classroom environment where key vocabulary, symbols, and learning goals are always visible. These visual supports are especially helpful for students who need reminders or language reinforcement throughout the lesson.

Fidget toys and small prizes are used to encourage participation, perseverance, and positive classroom behaviors. For many students, these tools also help with focus and stress management during challenging problem-solving tasks.

The keyboard and mouse are to pair with the new computer that was provided by donorschoose.

Finally, cleaning wipes and hand sanitizer help keep our classroom safe and healthy as students regularly share materials. A clean, welcoming environment allows us to focus on learning without unnecessary interruptions.

Together, these materials help create a math classroom where students feel supported, engaged, and capable of success.
