We are a public, all-girls, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) middle and high school in Los Angeles, California. We opened in 2016 with grades 6 and 9, and grow a grade per year to eventually become a full SPAN (grades 6-12) school by the 2019-20 school year.
Did you know that girls within Los Angeles Unified School District perform at the same level or above their male peers in math and science while in elementary school?
And yet, their scores on standardized tests in math and science decline as they progress through middle and high school. Not only that, as students move through school, fewer girls take STEM classes than boys. Our school is here to change that and our girls need your help! We welcome all girls within the school district who are committed to a highly rigorous, college preparatory curriculum focused on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
My Project
Being in a science classroom is so fun - but can also get pretty messy sometimes. After a day of labs and activities, it is really important to keep everything clean so that the students are ready to go the next day.
These supplies are crucial to the classroom but are not provided, so this often comes out of my own pocket.
I would appreciate any help to keep our class healthy, clean, and organized.
This project will go a really long way as several packs of paper towels, tissues, swiffer supplies, organizers, and other cleaners are included. In addition, I have added a stability ball for any students that need alternative seating throughout the day. Thank you in advance for considering our school and this project.
