Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The students are the number one reason why I chose this school district. They make my job worth while, end of story.

My students are coming from an urban area that is poverty ridden, and disadvantaged.

In my eyes, they deserve the best. This school and classroom are going to be their safe place, a place where they can relax, learn, and grow into individuals.

This focus on academics cannot be met if the students are not provided with the necessary materials to make grade-level progress each year.

My Project

These items will provide my students with ways to be creative as well as maintain organization within our classroom. The book bins will work to hold all of their books and materials for the day.

Having their own materials will aid in allowing them in developing responsibility for their own actions.

Supplies within the classroom as well as organization help students to feel as though things are in more of an order, creating structure that most students thrive on. The bins will help to store all the classroom materials such as crayons, markers, dry erase boards, etc. The dry erase boards will encourage the students to be responsible for their learning and have interactive lessons.

I have found through experience that having a specific place for all things limits behavior and disruption in the classroom. I know that these items will help in all of my lessons regarding responsibility and structure.
