My Project

Students often come to me and say, "I'm not a reader." My response is always, "You haven't found the right book yet." My students are often very curious about the world around them but often don't have access to books that are engaging. I work at an incredibly diverse school and I would like to be able to provide them with graphic novels to get them engaged in reading.

Often, reluctant readers just haven't found the right books yet.

Graphic novels are a "gateway" into reading for many students--once they've found one good book, they often go searching for another. I would like to build up the offerings in my Graphic Novels and Literature course to include more books in our “Superheroes and Society” unit.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
