We spent most of March reading the book, and the students truly enjoyed exploring something from the fantasy genre. We read the novel aloud in class, expanded our vocabulary, and discussed The Hero's Journey as we considered how The Hobbit follows this storytelling model.\r\n\r\nFor our final project, in addition to a final test, students created a variety of creative projects inspired by the novel. They had a great deal of freedom in their choices, and Ms. Gonsalves and I were very impressed with the final products.
