Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In this project, 11th and 12th grade physiology students will explore the connections between human health, environmental science, and wellness through hands-on outdoor investigations. Students will participate in vermiculture and composting activities, study scientific research on the mental and physical health benefits of spending time outdoors, and investigate the effectiveness of various sunscreens.

Students will also perform worm dissections to study anatomy and compare body systems, reinforcing concepts related to digestion, circulation, and other physiological structures and functions.

By connecting outdoor learning, physiology, wellness, and environmental stewardship, this project will help students engage more deeply with science through meaningful real-world experiences.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
