My Project

This school year I moved schools and am now teaching a new group of wonderful first graders who enjoy learning a variety of things. Each and every student has their own unique learning objectives. In the classroom we use our Chromebooks for a variety of activities. For example, students have the ability to read books aloud, work within an assigned activity tailored to their specific learning goals and much more. To make the learning time spent on the Chromebooks effective, students need to be able to hear the audio on the various programs they work with. This means hearing audio via headphones and not the device's built-in speakers. I want to supply all the students in my classroom with their own pair of headphones. All students should have the same advantages of hearing their learning activities with personal headphones. When students can hear, their social and emotional cognition improves.

In an equitable classroom, students have the tools and supports they need to be successful no matter where they start, which means everyone has the same advantages starting with a pair of headphones.

When I support equity in my classroom it also makes the students feel safe, strengthens relationships with peers and teachers, and helps the students manage and express their emotions. Please help me get each of my students their own pair of headphones.
