My students need chapter books to read and classroom supplies. We need testing partitions to eliminate distractions to do our best on our many tests and projects throughout the school year.

My Students

I teach at a low performing, high poverty, Title 1 school in Winston Salem, NC. My students face many challenges in and out of the classroom. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. Most of my students come from single parent households, lack basic necessities, and receive little support at home. Many of my students miss out on traditional childhood experiences because of the hardship their families face.

My relationship with my students is everything.

They know our classroom is a safe place, that I love them, and that I will do everything in my power to help them, whether it be school related or not. In return, they work their little hearts out.

My Project

For the last three years I have taught first grade. I loved it, but I love second grade even more!

My kids need more challenging books to read to engage them and interest them as their love for reading grows.

We have lots of tests to take during the school year. Although it is not the most fun part of our day, testing helps me guide my instruction to help meet the needs of all of my students. We need testing partitions to help eliminate distractions to do our very best!

We need school supplies to help make our classroom a bright, inviting, and engaging place to be! We use bright, scented markers to make posters about what we have learned!
