Students With Disabilities Need A Projector

My students need one laptop video projector.

Grades 6-8

I teach students who mostly live in public housing or homeless shelters. Our class is a special education, self-contained classroom. My students are in the same room for most of the day, with me as their only teacher for all subjects. Because of this I need to take fresh approaches to teaching throughout the day to keep them engaged. The class I had last year as 7th graders are returning to my room this coming school year for their 8th grade year. Last year, the few times I was able to borrow the only laptop video projector in our school, the students were very interested and the lessons were successful. There are many interactive educational web sites to project on the screen. I used a virtual protractor to teach measuring angles and the students learned this skill very quickly, because they were having fun. Children love technology and there are so many more possibilities for lessons using a projector. If we had a video projector in our classroom I would use it daily, for lecture notes using Power Point, for student projects, demonstrating and using educational software, class educational games--it is limitless.
