Can you believe that many students today say they have only read one book from front to back? You can change that by donating this project!

My students come from all socioeconomic backgrounds, but our district is a rural district in Arkansas.

Our district was on "school improvement" because of our literacy skills, and our scores improved last year, but we need to keep encouraging students to read!

My Project

My students need 40 copies of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I taught this book last year, and students that never read loved this book, but more copies are needed. The book, The Hunger Games, teaches students about survival in the real world, about loyalty, compassion, history (such as Roman history), all while keeping their attention. While reading this book students will create graphic organizers, participate in class discussions, learn new vocabulary, write daily journal entries about the book, and more.

This project is important because it will encourage students to read.

I hope by having students read this book at the beginning of the year that they will be inspired to keep reading and will be hungry to read more and more books.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
