In my seventh grade geography classroom students discover and explore the world. They begin to develop an understanding of their role as a global citizen and the influence they can have on their community.
The student make up of my school is extremely diverse.
My school educates some of the highest percentages of African-American, Hmong and Latino students in the district. Many of our students come from economically challenged households as close to 70% of our student body qualifies for free or reduced lunch. One out of five students are special education students.
I am honored to be able to educate these amazing students. They are thoughtful, creative, and work hard. They deserve the very best and for their classroom to be a safe, fun, and exciting environment in which they learn. I strive to make school feel like a second home. I want my classroom to look the way I make my students feel which is empowered, happy, and creative.
My Project
Many of my students are wiggly learners. At my school, our core academic classes are ninety minutes long. This is a long time for kids to sit and learn.
Movement during the class period increases student ability to focus on learning.
Many students require movement to focus. The requested foldable mini floor foot pedal exercisers are portable, making it easy to rotate them to different students throughout class. The Zenergy Ball Chairs will allow students to move while remaining at their desks and continue working.
The chairs and desk bikes will help reduce the need for students to take movement breaks outside of the classroom. More time in the classroom means more learning!
