My Project

My high school cosmetology students are launching a fully student-led beauty service initiative designed to serve our surrounding community while giving students real-world career experience.

Through this project, students will plan and provide free or low-cost hair styling services for community members, including youth, families, and individuals preparing for interviews, school events, or special occasions.

Students will lead every phase of the project — from marketing and client check-ins to consultations, styling, and sanitation — while I supervise for safety and state board compliance.

The requested professional tools and products, including flat irons, styling gels, combs, brushes, and finishing products, will allow students to practice industry-level techniques on a variety of hair textures and styles. These supplies are essential for teaching professional standards, heat safety, product knowledge, client communication, and service efficiency.

This project transforms our classroom into a real-world salon environment where students gain leadership, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship skills while giving back to the community that supports our school. Many families in our area face financial barriers to beauty services, and this initiative will help restore confidence, dignity, and self-esteem through professional grooming.

By supporting this project, donors are investing in more than salon supplies — they are helping students become leaders, professionals, and changemakers. Students will build confidence, strengthen their technical abilities, and experience the power of service-centered learning.

Our goal is to show students that their skills can create real impact beyond the classroom while fostering stronger connections between our school and community.
