Their creativity and enthusiasm for using their talents to generate income have been truly inspiring. Through this initiative, they are not only exploring their artistic potential but also cultivating a strong entrepreneurial mindset that will benefit them for years to come.\r\n\r\nBy learning to manage money effectively and make it work for them, they are gaining financial literacy skills that will serve as a foundation for future financial independence. Their eagerness to master Cricut Design Space and apply their skills to customize items like t-shirts and cups demonstrates their drive to turn creativity into opportunity.\r\n\r\nAs these high schoolers prepare to transition into young adulthood, the skills they are developing—creativity, business acumen, and financial management—will empower them to become more self-reliant and productive individuals. The technology you funded has made a significant difference in my students' lives.\r\n\r\nThe iPad has provided my students with another way to manage their emotions. Many of them face challenges at home that directly affect their performance in school. Having access to this device has been invaluable in supporting their mental health.\r\n\r\nIn addition to using the iPad for virtual sessions with our school mental health counselor, students have access to apps that help them calm down, engage in journaling to process their emotions, and play interactive games that assist in identifying what's troubling them. The familiarity and privacy of using an iPad make this support even more effective.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, the students at Lucy C. Laney High School now have a powerful tool to help them navigate their emotions and challenges. One student exclaimed, \"Wait—these are for us?\" It was a moment that really reminded me how small acts of kindness can mean so much. Having access to snacks during class has helped students stay energized, focused, and more engaged in their reading and writing tasks.\r\n\r\nIn ELA, we're working on building reading stamina and improving writing fluency. With snacks available, students are better able to settle in and concentrate on their work. During a recent \"sustained silent reading\" session, I noticed students were not only reading longer but discussing their books more deeply afterward. One student even shared that they \"used to get so distracted by being hungry, but now I can actually finish a whole chapter.\"\r\n\r\nWe also used the snacks as part of a fun, creative writing activity: students chose a snack and wrote a descriptive paragraph using sensory language—taste, smell, texture, and emotion. It turned into a surprisingly powerful lesson on word choice and imagery!\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're diving into a new unit on personal narratives, and having a calm, supportive environment (complete with brain-fueling snacks!) is helping students feel more comfortable sharing their stories.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. Your contribution didn't just fill our snack bin—it helped fill our classroom with warmth, focus, and the joy of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1732285198378,"projectUrl":"project/because-mental-health-matters/8806714/","projectTitle":"Because Mental Health Matters!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Collins","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9700589_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725731429333","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9700589"},{"teacherId":9740938,"projectId":8756613,"letterContent":"On behalf of the Cosmetology class at Lucy C.
