My Students

"Everything I need to know I learned in kindergarten." We've all heard that quote and I think that if we stop and think about it, we all know it's true! Kindergarten is a time when students first delve into the world of learning and school, making friends, and learning to be independent.

In my classroom, I try to foster an environment where students know they're loved and safe, as well as an environment where they are free to explore, take chances, and learn about things that interest them.

I teach 44 students and almost 3/4 of them have never attended formal school before this year. Because of Covid, my class, like so many others, has fallen behind academically and socially.

My Project

My students have, at large, missed educational experiences because of the lock-downs during their pre-schools years.

The supplies I am requesting will help to make up for deficits in fine motor skills and reading ability of my students who missed out during the pandemic.

I am so excited for my students to be able to take high quality, decodable texts home to practice reading and to be able to improve their writing and handwriting by doing activities to strengthen their hands. I am also anxious to get our classroom organized in a way to better facilitate learning and growing.

I am requesting a new take-home library so my students can practice reading at home. I’m asking for some organizational supplies to help us all to make the most of our time in school. And I’m asking for school toys that will help my students develop fine motor skills, as well as, help them with their social skills through interacting with their peers during center time.
