Streamlined Classroom Environment Increases Student Engagement

My Project

Classroom management is the foundation to teaching and learning. Without classroom management, it makes learning and teaching less effective. Organization is an essential component of classroom management because it affects the physical and mental aspects of the classroom. Poor organization makes it difficult for teachers and students to find and access class materials, which can lead to wasted time and disruptive behaviors. Student engagement is another important component of classroom management. Lack of student engagement makes learning and teaching difficult because it often leads to disruptive behaviors and difficulties maintaining classroom control. Academic struggles and learning difficulties can lead to disengagement. When students have trouble understanding mathematical concepts, they tend to be unengaged. One-to-one and small group instructions are an effective way to support these students.

My students love helping each other and working in groups.

In my classroom I frequently use peer teaching/tutoring, which are beneficial for both the tutor and tutee. I also provide my student with on-to-support both from myself and other students. The stools will allow transitioning around the classroom with ease to provide students with one-to-one support.

Although my students need reminders about maintaining organization, they thrive in an organized classroom. The rolling supply cart, rotating art supply organizer, shelf bookcase, pocket calculator holders, and cell phone holder will help with organizing our classroom materials and supplies. The laminator machine and pouches will be used to laminate student generated classroom rules and guidelines.
