My PreK students are four and five-year-olds who come from high poverty or English as a second language homes. These students attend a public school in an urban area of Texas.
For most of my students, my classroom is their first school experience and they come with such an excitement for learning and trying new things, like working puzzles, listening to a book, or painting.
I am privileged to watch them grow and develop skills in such a hands-on environment!
My Project
Hands-on learning centers require materials that are frequently changed. Storing these materials can be a challenge, so my students need a cabinet that locks to secure these supplies, especially the technology.
Keeping my students engaged in writing, building, technology, math, science, and fine motor development is my goal as a teacher.
I am constantly evaluating what skills my students need and finding new, fun ways we can practice those skills which requires a wide variety of manipulatives and materials. I strive to make my students' first school experience positive and hope it will set a foundation for life long learning.
