My Project

This year, I teach 90 5th graders science and social studies every day. In our classroom, we complete weekly labs in cooperative groups, and we currently utilize the FOSS science curriculum. We are constantly sharing science equipment and supplies between 18 different groups (six groups in four different class periods).

I am a strong believer that science is learned best through labs and hands-on experiences so it’s great to have so many handouts and so much science lab equipment/materials but at times the sheer amount can be a little overwhelming.

Our classroom is in desperate need of a way to store and access all these important resources in a way that makes sense in our classroom. Organization is key and this cabinet could be a place where we store all supplies. It would be fantastic to have these items accessible to students so they can help fill lab buckets with needed items. I have every intention of labeling the shelves by unit or specific labs, which I also think will help students know what items we have and what items we still need. I also love that this cabinet locks, which is practical since this cabinet will need to be stored in a shared area in our school!
