Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are innovative and intelligent Black and Hispanic students who live in the inner city. They love to take materials and create new things. In their classes, they are focused on test prep. The library is one of the few places where students can be free and creative. With limited supplies, I allow my students to work in groups and create various science, technology, engineering, and math activities (STEM).

STEM activities such as those in the PLUS PLUS Open Play Set promote critical thinking skills, problem-solving, and creativity.

The wooden pattern blocks and construction toys will also enable them to focus on hands-on learning with real-world applications. STEM activities also help develop a variety of skill sets, including creativity and 21st-century skills. These are skills needed to be successful adults. To keep all of these activities accessible to my students, we also need storage totes to keep them in. These will ensure students can use the materials when needed.
