My students need STEM tub materials such as magnetic building shapes, magnetic tiles, interlocking construction bars and a marble run to foster a love of Science, Math and Engineering!
I have moved to 2nd Grade and I need some Stem building materials to challenge my 2nd Graders. I am excited to go to work every day and I want my 2nd graders to have the same feeling about school when they enter my classroom.
I believe that if we give them the tools to help them create and explore with, they will become problem solvers for life.
As an Educator, I feel that I need to do everything I can to give my students the tools to help them become successful learners. We are a Title 1 school with many low-come families, my students would not get the opportunity to explore with innovative types of materials if the school did not provide them.
When students are engaged, having fun and not realizing they are learning— I have done my job!
My Project
Starting the day with STEM tubs will wake up my student's creative minds! Research shows that when children are given time to engage in Inquiry and Play-Based Learning "it can provide a strong basis for later success at school." It also gives them time to develop social and cooperative learning skills by working with their peers.
I want my students to be excited about coming to school!
I know I would want to come to school if a STEM Tub, I can create buildings, dragons, and bridges with were waiting for me, instead of a morning worksheet!
I will rotate the STEM tubs throughout the year so that all of the students get a hands-on experience with the different building materials to foster their love of Math and Science!
