This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I want to give my amazing third grade students opportunities to build hands-on projects that will introduce them to science and engineering concepts in a fun, safe way. STEM projects are important for elementary students not only for teaching science and math, but for helping them develop critical thinking and problem solving skills while collaborating and having fun with their peers.

These projects are important because I believe students do not get enough hands on, real world learning during a regular school day.

With this project, students would use the car kit materials to create balloon cars and would be able to test different parts and pieces to see what makes their car go faster. They would learn about engineering, but also that sometimes you have modify your ideas or even go back to the drawing board with what you've learned to create even better ideas. We would also complete other projects like straw planes and popsicle stick catapults using the other materials and books. Thank you for considering my class's project.
