STEM Challenges Promote Teamwork and Problem Solving
My students need challenges for their creativity and their STEM thinking through online coding with computers, engineering with Makey Makey, teamwork and puzzle challenges that reward you with an open lock!
Every morning, the library opens it's door before school even starts. In come 20-40 students to spend some time with games, constructing things, and reading. More come by during the day for media literacy classes, research, workspace, break time and more.
Our students are diverse in every way - learning style, languages spoken, culturally, ethnically, reading preferences and more.
With over 2/3 of our students on free and reduced lunch, we face the challenge of having limited Title I funds to bridge the range of experiences our students bring. Regardless of background, each student brings their own passion and learning style and we strive to meet the needs of all our learners.
My Project
A lot can be accomplished with students have few extra minutes. All of materials you are providing can be used in short burst of creativity and thinking.
From computer coding experiences on the ASUS Chromebook, to circuit and engineering challenges provided by the Makey Makey Invention Kit, students can start a project, think about it and come back to it later.
I'm also asking for a variety of locks, baseplates, and Intelligent Games for Kids. All projects have been chosen because they promote teamwork.
Having these STEM materials available in the library, where all students can use them, allows students to teach each other, share ideas and learn from each other. Help us build a library where students come to explore, build, craft, and engineer with new, exciting tools for learning. What a great compliment to all they learn through the books and online resources in the library!
