This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a school with many transitioning students. The majority of my students are military children who have been through multiple moves in their short lives. Giving them a constant and peaceful environment at school is a top priority for me.

My students are very special.

Each one has been through so much in their short lives, it is important for adults to recognize that and give students the consistency they need. 6th grade is a very high need year in their lives and my school is working hard to provide that for them.

My Project

In 6th grade Social Studies, students learn about the ancient cultures around the world. One of the places we learn about is ancient Rome. Ancient Roman architecture is always a fun topic we explore during the unit.

With vinyl tubing and duct tape, students will be able to create an aqueduct with their small group.

Being able to incorporate STEM into Social Studies is one of my top priorities. Students learn by leaps and bounds when they are able to physically make something, rather than just look at a picture.

With our vinyl tubing and duct tape, students will get to be Roman engineers for a day and work as a team to see who can make the best aqueduct.
