The moment we opened the box, my students lit up. The tempera paint sticks caused an instant eruption of \"oooohs\" and \"wait, what is this?!\" Many of my kids had never seen them before, and they could not wait to try them. Watching them was one of those rare classroom moments when you can feel excitement spread through the room.\r\n\r\nWe have already put every part of your gift to use in our Giant Notebook Project. The packing tape and dispenser are helping students bind their oversized pages so they hold like real books, and the hot glue sticks allow them to build interactive flaps, pockets, and tabs. The paint sticks quickly became the class favorite.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are even more meaningful. Students will now be turning these giant notebooks into learning portfolios filled with reflections, explanations, diagrams, and mini lessons they create for one another. The materials you provided did not just supply a project. They opened the door for my students to see themselves as authors, creators, and thinkers whose work is worth displaying.\r\n\r\nYour kindness made our classroom brighter, more creative, and more joyful. Last year, students often wanted to read the same titles, but there just were not enough to go around. This year, my students light up when they realize they can get their first choice of small group novel instead of their second choice. \r\n\r\nReading time now feels alive. We break out into small groups, and the new seating is a favorite spot. I often see a cluster of students curled up there with their book, taking turns reading and then stopping to talk about what just happened to answer their comprehension questions. Others spread out on the floor or at their desks, but those seats make group reading feel extra special.\r\n\r\nOne student who was hesitant at first has already finished two of the donated books while sitting in that space with friends. Watching students lean in together, laugh at a scene, or debate a character's choice shows me how much your gift has changed our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1746471796284,"projectUrl":"project/turning-pages-changing-lives-fueling-a/9319237/","projectTitle":"Turning Pages, Changing Lives: Fueling a Love for Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Walker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/walker4english"},{"teacherId":10011123,"projectId":9374515,"letterContent":"What I love most about my students is their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. They come to class with open minds, ready to explore big ideas and connect with the world around them. Thanks to your generosity, we now have The Red Pyramid to bring even more excitement and depth to our Ancient Egypt unit.\r\n\r\nAlthough we haven't started reading yet, I'm thrilled about how this novel will shape our classroom. Through the story, my students will not only learn more about Ancient Egypt's rich history and mythology, but they'll also strengthen their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills. This cross-curricular connection will make social studies more engaging while showing them the power of storytelling as a tool for learning across subjects.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is never a quiet, solitary act. We read together, pause to ask questions, make predictions, and discuss how the story connects to the real world. I can already imagine how much fun my students will have debating the choices of the characters and connecting the adventures in the book to the historical content we're studying.\r\n\r\nI know that certain students, especially those who already love mythology and adventure stories, will be captivated right away. For others, this may be the spark that makes them see reading in a whole new light. Either way, your gift ensures that every student will have the chance to experience this journey together.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. For example, we recently began a unit on Ancient Egypt and Rome, and the 180 Days of Social Studies for Sixth Grade workbook has been a game-changer. It provides structured lessons that complement our classroom discussions, helping students dive deeper into historical concepts.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the Clorox Disinfecting Wipes and other classroom supplies, such as the electric pencil sharpener and Expo dry-erase markers, have helped create a clean and organized environment for students to stay focused on their work. We even used the markers for a fun group activity where students illustrated maps of ancient Egypt and Rome on the whiteboard, collaborating as they shared what they had learned. The quality of the supplies really enhances the learning experience!\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, they were thrilled! The excitement was contagious, especially when they realized that the classroom was going to be better equipped to support their learning. They couldn't wait to try out the new colored pencils and markers for their projects. The electric pencil sharpener was a huge hit—students love how quick and easy it makes getting their pencils ready for class. The 180 Days of Social Studies workbook immediately became a favorite, with students flipping through it to see what we would be learning next. It truly created a sense of ownership and pride in the classroom, knowing that these resources were made possible by such generous donors.\r\n\r\nThe next step for my students will be to continue building on the ancient civilizations we've been studying. Using the 180 Days of Social Studies workbook, students will soon create individual presentations on Ancient Egypt and Rome, focusing on key topics such as religion, daily life, and famous landmarks. They'll use the markers and pens for creative visual aids and their new pencils and erasers to organize their notes and drafts.\r\n\r\nWe're also working on a group project that involves designing a \"Museum of Ancient Civilizations\" where students will collaborate to create posters and exhibits on their assigned civilization. The new supplies have made this project much easier to execute, as the students now have the tools they need to complete their work efficiently and creatively. This project will help them synthesize their learning and present their findings to the class, reinforcing their knowledge in a fun and interactive way.","fullyFundedDate":1746785762617,"projectUrl":"project/future-historians/9308381/","projectTitle":"Future Historians","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Eckerfield","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10011123_orig.jpg?crop=318,318,x28,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747935398033","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10011123"},{"teacherId":1181603,"projectId":8930880,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to help us purchase cameras for our yearbook club. The impact of this donation has allowed the yearbook staff ownership of photos being taken and added to the yearbook as well as responsibility of caring for and using the camera when needed. The more they use it, the better they are getting at learning the technology of the camera and how to take photos with the best lighting, angles, and more.
