STEM 2 Mind!!

Help me give my students access to STEM hands-on activities that encourages interaction with math, science, and technology. For example the Hot Dots Talking Pen will assist nonverbal students on the autism spectrum access to STEM.

My Students

Our classroom consists of students with special needs with varying educational levels, grades ninth through twelfth and adult transitional ages. Students receive district transportation to a regional program. More than half or our students ride on buses one hour round trip daily. All socio-economic levels are represented in our classroom. We have students on the autism spectrum, Down Syndrome and students with orthopedic impairments. Our program also serves a small portion of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students on campus.

Our team is striving to create hands on practical prerequisite job skills that could be abundantly fostered through STEM projects such as: encouraging teamwork, creativity, experimentation, ingenuity, knowledge application, adaptation, resilience, and of course promotion of tech use.

Our students love hands-on projects and would appreciate funding for this project!

My Project

Our team would like to prepare our students with STEM skills to provide them with a well-rounded background for future opportunities. The use of STEM activities require students to use their prior knowledge while also using higher-order thinking to solve problems presented to them.

STEM will inspire our student’s confidence, by helping them showcase what they’ve learned in a hands-on, and engaging way!

These STEM kits will enable our students to utilize everyday skills in their life! For example, The Gears Moving Monkeys building set, and the KEVA Brain Builders set will encourage our students to experiment and find solutions with their own distinctive style.

Additionally, Botley the coding robot will help students be prepared to seize new technologies when they encounter them, which gives them an advantage in the global environment, as the world becomes increasingly tech- focused.
