My Students

My students are my favorite people in this world- beside my family! These children come to school each day excited to learn and filled with love, and I'm not exaggerating. In all my years of teaching I have never had a Kindergarten class with this disposition, they are so kind and want nothing more than to be the best students, scholars, and citizens they can be. I want to give them learning opportunities that will keep this innate creativity and desire to learn alive.

My Project

If funded, I have chosen a variety of items that will support hands-on STEAM learning in a variety of lesson sets. Each lesson will begin with a read-aloud to offer students a foundation for the lesson to build off of. Then, the toys/manipulatives/supplies serve to support the discussion we had following the book and allow the students a chance to develop and demonstrate the STEAM thinking process with hands-on experience. For Kindergarten, having these items already within the classroom (something they've seen and noticed before but we haven't discussed) allows them an additional connection to the lesson. Feeling this tie increases their engagement further, this is why displaying these hardcover books, hanging things on the wall, rugs on the floor, or having seen the toys makes all the difference in building these foundational STEAM skills.
