This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach students at a STEM school on the south side of Chicago which services grades K - 8th. I work with an amazing group of students who enjoy music, being creative, doing hands-on activities, and socializing like most children. They benefit from learning when they have the supplies needed to stay safe and energized.

When students are safe, warm, and full they are less distracted, everyone is focused, listening, and on task.

The materials I have selected will help with this process.

My job as a teacher will be to provide a safe space for them to learn, think and create. I'm aware that children develop and learn differently, and the materials I've chosen will help with this process.​

I want to provide my students with experiences that helps them to be their best. Unfortunately, a large number of my students have experience loss and hunger, and many of them are entitled to the school's free lunch program. Many of my students require extra services, and others simply lack exposure. Help me aquire the resources they can benefit from.

My Project

With the uprisings of the Omicron Virus it my job to help keep my students safe during class instruction. Our students are required to wear masks in school. The mask I've chosen will help to stop the spread of viruses. Also, the rug I've ordered will allow for safe spacing during our morning phonics routines. Finally, the healthy snacks I've selected will give my students the energy boost they need to stay focused during the last hours of instruction and keep hunger at bay.

As teachers we must try to address the needs and welfare of the whole child, by keeping them safe, energized, and educated.
