The students in my class attend an urban school district with limited financial resources. Most of the students receive free or reduced-price lunches. Many of them have experienced crime in their lives and find it difficult to come to school. It can be overwhelming to know how to help. They are sweet kids with big dreams. They dream of learning, being successful athletes, helping their families, and reaching their full potential.
Many of these students must overcome obstacles such as poverty and uncertain home situations.
A high-quality educator can make a significant difference in a student’s life. When I look at my students, I see unlimited possibilities. Overall, my students living in poverty are just like other children, but they can encounter limitations and barriers that make it harder to learn, including students whose first language is not English. My main goal is to give each student the chance to have success in school and beyond.
My Project
Due to COVID, the need for cleaning supplies is becoming a requirement for the class. Students need to sanitize their tables after breakfast, lunch, and snack, and at the end of the day. I am requesting cleaning supplies, such as Clorox wipes and Lysol spray which will allow both students and teachers to reduce the rate of spread in the class and continue learning IN the classroom. These cleaning supplies can become expensive when you have to use about 60 wipes each day, so anything would help!
These cleaning supplies will be used every day to make sure that germs are not spread.
Also, I am asking for a few class snacks, such as crackers, granola bars, and fruit snacks to keep the students from being hungry.
