My Project

My students are an adorable bunch of preschoolers (ages 3, 4 and 5) who come to school each morning with boundless energy and ready for fun. As their teacher, I strive to turn their untamed excitement into a lifelong love of learning. But before a child is able to learn, they need self-regulation skills and confidence that their basic needs are being met. Unfortunately, many of my students' families are struggling to keep up with rising household costs and have no room in their budget for "extras", including warm layers of clothing and snacks for their growing child.

The clothing and snacks requested in my project will provide students with necessary items to help meet basic needs.

Every child should have a warm sweatsuit when the cold winds blow. Likewise, every child should be able to have a small, after-school snack to tide them over until dinner. The bags and backpacks I selected will allow students an appropriate method of transporting papers, naptime sheets and extra clothing to and from school.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
