Starting the day the STEM way!

Help me give my students manipulatives that allows them to start their day calm, creatively, and socially with their peers. It will help them boost higher level creative thinking skills.

My Project

We have 75 eager second graders who bring so much excitement and joy to our school community. Students come in every day eager to learn and start the day. They work hard to be respectful, responsible, kind, and safe. They take pride in their school community. Our student has a morning routine that consists of breakfast, unpacking, and getting their bodies ready to learn for the day. We hope to offer them a great way to start their morning.

Adding these different tools to each child's morning routine could mean the start of a successful day!

These materials will be accessed by all second-grade students when they finish their breakfast, and unpacking for the morning. Students will have the option to choose between woodblocks, Magna-tiles, geometric shapes, gears, and much more to explore their creative building and problem-solving while practicing their play socially. Allowing students to build and explore socially will give them a great way to start their day of learning. This will allow unrestricted time to explore, problem-solve, communicate, hypothesize, experiment, and much more.

Students will be using different tools and materials to explore and challenge themselves through fun experiments. These STEAM learning activities encourage children to hone their observation skills, find patterns, analyze results, and predict outcomes. Introducing this type of scientific thinking to little learners instills essential critical thinking skills, and helps them become better problem solvers.
