Help me give my students stand mixers for each of our four classroom kitchens!

My Students

As a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher, I have the opportunity to work with every grade in the middle school 6-8! After the past couple of years with the pandemic, much of the cooking and sewing aspects were put on a bit of a hold. This year we are able to get back in the kitchens and build those skills that students will need. While cooking and sewing are just a few of the areas covered in FCS, they are the couple that take the majority of classroom resources. The students and I are incredibly excited to be exploring again. However, our goals are seemingly bigger than our budget! With a little help, I will be able to expand the content and activities for every grade level and allow my students to create lasting memories and knowledge in my classroom. My Project

Having stand mixers available in our classroom kitchens will allow us to explore many new cooking and baking topics! Lessons are currently limited to what we can do with our own two hands and a spoon. Having the opportunity to mix bread dough, whip egg whites, and create more efficiently with the little classroom time we have will make a world of difference and open up the door to more diverse learning experiences. It is a goal of mine to expose my students to as much of the family and consumer sciences content as possible. Utilizing the proper tools and equipment will allow us to be closer to reaching that goal.

Having the stand mixers available in my classroom will allow me to give students the cooking experiences they deserve.

FCS teaches valuable life skills that students will be able to take with them. I believe that kitchen skills are an enormous part of these life skills that will help students to build their confidence and independence. Thank you for considering donating to my classroom.
