Squishy Circuits for STEM Learners

Help me give my students squishy circuits to enhance their understanding of how electricity works.

My Project

My students are so intrigued by anything science-related! Earlier in the year we invited a volunteer from our local library to share her personal supply of 'squishy circuits' with our first graders. She presented the basics of how electricity travels and allowed them to use inquiry to find out more. They couldn't get enough of it! Unfortunately, we were one of the last groups who were able to utilize her materials before she retired and removed them from being available to the public. My goal is for every student to be able to utilize the materials to create a working circuit to turn on lights, enable fans and buzzers to work, and be able to identify open and closed circuits.

Squishy Circuits are created especially for students who are just being introduced to the idea of electric circuits, are designed for little fingers, and are made with materials appropriate for students from grades K-5.

Each kit contains lights, buzzers, and fan motors, along with the wiring and battery-operated energy packs. The kit has enough materials for an entire class to be experimenting at the same time. The dough and batteries are not included in the kit, but are necessary components for the materials to work together to make working circuits, which is why they are included in this project.

Thank you for considering our project. With your help we can provide appropriate materials for learning the scientific principles of electricity. You will be preparing future electrical engineers for success!
