This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are taking anatomy, they are very enthusiastic and curious as well as very interested in careers in medicine and healthcare. They are proactive critical thinkers who love school and are passionate about life science classes and their education.

My Project

This project will allow students to investigate various anatomy concepts related to muscles, nerves, cells, and various anatomical structures using the model of squid physiology and anatomy. Students will analyze parts of a squid using microscopes, medical supplies such as tweezers, dissection scissors, etc. and record their observations, which they will then give presentations on. Students in this community have little to no access to medical tools and supplies up until this point, and for careers in healthcare it is imperative that they are exposed to these laboratory skills in a high school learning environment.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
