This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a close classroom community! We love science, nature, and spending time outside. My students work hard every day to reach their social and academic goals and to be there for one another.

In our class, we keep empathy and kindness for others at the center of our learning experience.

My 12 students are comprised of five English learners, and four who receive additional education services. We do a lot of work to build and maintain a strong classroom community where all students feel seen and respected.

My Project

These materials will support my students in their personal learning experiences. Noise-canceling headphones help with balancing overstimulation from noise, and the wobble cushions can be the perfect space for a student to learn. We're constantly finding new ways to use less paper, so having reusable pockets with Expo markers supports that effort.

With these materials, students will be able to activate their highest learning potential.

All students have different needs, and additional materials are often needed to support these needs. I'm always trying to find new ways to hear student voices and give them space to share information confidentially with me. The suggestion box will be a space in the classroom where students can slip in a note if they need to tell me something privately.
