Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It's the time in the semester where it is appropriate to replenish and replace various classroom materials. The supply list, is evident of that. There are an assortment of items which are frequently used and deteriorate from regular usage and wear and tear. I'm hoping that this project will allow my students to have materials that aren't overly worn and will provide adequate support through the end of this school year. Students can be vocal critics, however, they are also way too accustomed to making the most out of the least. I want them to have the most.

The specific learning outcome for the materials requested is that students can be engaged during the lesson (whiteboards/markers) and prepared for studying at home (folders for taking home study materials).

Additionally, my goal for students in my classroom is always that they feel seen, heard, appreciated and loved. With this in mind, the colorful gel pens are used during class when we write our power messages for the day; the plastic cups are used for water breaks using the water dispenser previously gotten for the class (the water fountains are often not working and prevent students from accessing water during the day and students have already gone through two 500-packs of cups this school year -- I pay weekly to refill the water dispenser myself).

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
