My students need a wide array of sports and fitness equipment such as weights, soccer balls, volleyballs, exercise mats, athletic shoes, etc. in order to ENABLE and INSPIRE them to remain physically and mentally resilient.
Our school community contains a diverse array of students whose backgrounds and needs are as unique as the families and cultures that proudly support them. We are a school community that is extremely rich in pride, strong in support, and full of a passion to succeed.
As our school community continues to become more diverse, our classroom continues to be a place where a high degree of emphasis is placed on developing the capabilities to support the academic, social-emotional, and familial needs of all students so that engaging, innovative, and relevant learning takes place.
Each year, I am so proud of the maturity that my students develop when it comes to their learning and personal growth as young adults. It is truly a passion of mine to offer the supplies, resources, and technology that will allow my students to gain the knowledge, as well as practice the skills, needed for success in their future college and career journeys.

My Project
“Some fish love to swim upstream. Some people love to overcome challenges” (Amit Ray). Citizens of the wonderful state of Florida have had to deal with the effects of Hurricane Irma to varying degrees but there is no doubt that, overall, we continue to swim upstream and strive for normalcy. 2017 was a year of tragic natural disasters and, even in these early days of 2018, our school community continues to welcome many students displaced from another major hurricane, Hurricane Maria. Recognizing that many of my students, along with their families, continue to desire a sense of normalcy in the new year, my ultimate hope is to provide the resources and experiences that will help all of my students be able to learn, play, and grow in an environment that is relaxing, stress-free, and supportive.
Dealing with stress has proven to diminish energy, inhibit thinking, and lower the immune system and I cannot think of many things more stressful than weathering a natural disaster, being displaced from one's home and community, and/or losing that feeling of normalcy and equilibrium.
After surveying my students, the majority of them expressed that sports and physical activity helps them relieve stress and feel connected to school. The various footwear requested (sports cleats, sports shoes, etc.) will allow them to continue to participate in team sports or exercise at home recreationally with proper foot support which will prevent the likelihood of injuries. Likewise, items such as the dumbbells, speed ladders, cones, weightlifting equipment, boxing equipment, and baseball/softball/basketball/volleyball equipment will allow my students to participate in school sports and/or continue their training and conditioning at home; all of which will help them become strong competitors within our school teams and/or to stay fit in the off-season.
