Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Nestled in the heart of a large area of New York is an elementary school with students who have great potential to become successful citizens in today’s society. Our school is a Title I school located in a high-needs area.
This project will build future leaders both on and off the basketball court.
Our students will have the best equipment available to them to foster growth and build a love for the game of basketball. The items requested, like basketballs, water, water bottles, and sports drinks, will help our players strive athletically by equaling the playing field into an avenue that they would otherwise be completely shut out of.
We want to motivate our elementary students and let them know how important school is. Our basketball team will learn important lessons that will go beyond the basketball court. Our basketball program will encourage players to work together as a team. Teamwork is the main component in basketball, in addition to confidence and communication skills.
