This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Sphero Mini Robots are an excellent tool for creating interactive games that bridge the gap between hands-on learning and playful engagement, effectively linking points 1 and 2 of the classroom resources.

These robots can be used to design a variety of educational games that make learning about coding, mathematics, and science concepts exciting and accessible for young students.

For instance, I can set up obstacle courses where students must program their Sphero robots to navigate through various challenges. This activity not only introduces basic coding concepts but also incorporates elements of geometry and physics, as students must consider angles, speed, and distance. Such a game fosters problem-solving skills and encourages teamwork, as students can work in groups to figure out the most efficient coding commands to complete the course.

Additionally, the Sphero Mini Robots can be integrated into interactive storytelling games. Students can create their stories and then use the robots to bring their narratives to life. This integrates language arts into the STEM learning experience, promoting creativity and narrative skills.

Moreover, these robots can be used in math games, where students program their Sphero to reach numbers or solve math problems laid out in the classroom. This type of game makes abstract math concepts more tangible and enjoyable.

By using Sphero Mini Robots for these interactive games, the goals of engaging students in STEM learning and reinforcing concepts through play are achieved. The unique attraction of my students to hands-on, interactive play is perfectly leveraged by these robots, making learning both effective and enjoyable.
