My Project

New year, new speech room! Change can be good, but switching to a new space for some of my students can be tough. So creating a calm, welcoming, and safe space for my students to transition to is paramount. Neutral-colored classroom decor and signage will promote positivity, encouragement, and a general sense of calm for students.

A calming learning environment will lead to greater student engagement, decreased disruptive behavior, better communication, and improved overall academic performance.

A new rug and pillows will allow us the flexibility to work in an area other than the traditional classroom table. The classroom bins will store materials resulting in fewer student distractions. A new mirror will give students visual feedback during speech sound production tasks. Our room does not have windows so I wanted to include an indoor plant theme because who doesn't love plants (even the fake ones)?
