Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher of uniquely gifted special needs student at a wonderful multicultural school where all of our students receive free lunch. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and situations, yet each and every day, they come to school with smiles on their faces ready to learn.
We try to make learning fun in and out of the classroom by creating an exciting, safe and helpful environment where they can not only grow as students but as productive individuals.
My Project
The Special Education Students in my classroom love to get outside and practice their gross and fine motor skills through movement.
Having this project funded would mean that my extra special students will be able to form teams and have the opportunity to practice soccer and badminton.
Introducing these two sports, which they may never have the opportunity to play on a team, will allow them access to an instructional experience that will broaden their knowledge of physical education while practicing their gross and fine motor skills.
Motor skills encompass a physical capability and a way of controlling that physical capability. The majority of my students have decreased motor skills and need all of the extra practice they can get. Soccer will allow for gross motor movement by running, kicking and blocking and badminton will allow for fine motor movement by picking up the birdie, serving and maneuvering wrist to hit.
