Special Holiday Event for Special Students
Help me give my students an extra special holiday celebration by providing an inflatable obstacle course.
Our students are affectionate, lovable, and hard working. They are special needs children who need extra support in order to be successful. Many having a variety of disabilities including: learning disabilities, mental health issues, Autism, Attention Deficit Disorder and depression receive services during their school day to support learning and to maintain on grade level work. These are students with sensory issues which can become overwhelmingly frustrating when trying to learn. They need to be taught with compassion and with other students with different abilities.
It is our hope to include as many of our students as possible in the general education classes to prepare them for life.
The majority of our students (over 80%) receive free breakfast and lunches. More than 75% of our students reside in low income housing here in South Florida. Parents are involved but can be limited by their need to work and/or lack of language skills to assist with homework. Although South Beach looks like a vacation spot, for our families struggle daily with food, clothing and rent.
We are organizing a special event for the students who are in self-contained classrooms. These kids usually miss many of the community holidays events because it is not easy for their families, due to mobility, sensory challenges, and other issues.
Thanks to a local school, North Beach Elementary and Loews hotel Santa is visiting the school with gifts.
We would like to make it a day the students will always remember and be grateful for by adding an inflatable obstacle course and food that they can share and enjoy with friends. Your contribution would make this special day come true.
