My students need Chromebooks to further expand their scope of learning while they communicate with students in other countries, who speak another language.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are very technology driven but unfortunately most of them don't have access to a computer.
Most of my students are from low income families but one thing that describes them is that they are inquirers, they always want to know 'why', 'what' and 'how'; However, one of my big challenges has been to show my students the need to take a little seriously the acquisition of a second language.
For many, experiencing a different world outside of their own may only seem to be a dream and my goal is to bring the real world to them.
My Project
My students need Chromebooks to further expand their scope of learning while they communicate with students in other countries, who speak another language.
Overwhelmingly, most of my students have no experience even listening to other languages spoken.
Having Chromebooks will ensure them access to listening, reading, and writing activities, through various sites and apps such memorize, ed-puzzle, and many more variety which would give them authentic exposure to the french language.
My project objective is to network in teaching and learning with schools in other countries via Skype. This experience will create for my students the type of exposure that they need in order to value the importance of communicating to people from another world other than theirs.
