Help me give my students more books in Spanish. I want to encourage their bi-lingual abilities with books that they love! My kids LOVE Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Captain Underpants. They just can't get enough.
I teach 5th and 6th Grade English Language Learners with varying proficiency levels. This year, I have a growing number of Spanish speakers who are so excited to read in Spanish. Since school has started they have finished reading my entire collection of Spanish books and have read almost all of the Library's Spanish section. They are wanting more books. They have made very specific requests and I would love to buy books for my classroom that they love to read.
My Project
My Spanish speaking students absolutely love to read; however, they have read the Spanish section of my classroom library, and they have very few Spanish books left to read in our school library.
I want to foster their love for reading in both English and Spanish.
They are so excited to read books that are at their level in their language that look similar to the books that their peers are reading.
They are daily asking for more Captain Underpants books and Diary of a Wimpy Kid books that they can read during their independent reading time in my class as well as their independent reading time in their ELA classrooms.
