This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students like to be active and go to the gym or outside. They enjoy learning about sports and competing against each other.

To be active and compete against other students with the same cognitive deficits, they need the added support of equipment designed for them.

They want so much to be regular and play regular sports. They want so much to be considered a sports team that they like to create their own sports and rules for those sports. They also like to help each other learn how to use equipment correctly and they like to show off when they get it right.

My Project

The majority of the students I work with have a sensitivity to their surroundings. They are easily upset by the brightness and the glare from the fluorescent lights in the classrooms where they are serviced. Many of them have headaches at the end of the day from the glare and the brightness of the overhead lights.

Being able to concentrate and focus on the required materials without the glare and harshness would be a big improvement in their achievement.

These filters can be placed in the classrooms where needed so that by the end of the school day, the students will not only be better able to function but will also lack the headaches they leave with at this time.
