My Students

Our students are the most socially and economically challenged in the county. We are the county's alternative school. It is hands-down the best place to work. We have the opportunity to build rapport, really understand their struggles, and assess individual needs. Our students are phenomenal despite the myriad of social and economic challenges they face each day. They are eager to learn but lack the social interactions to support their academic and social learning goals. These students are low academically and need resources to support growth on many levels.

My Project

You might ask why I want to teach table etiquette in the classroom? My answer would be, why not. Today's families are busy with social obligations outside the home. As you can imagine, there is little time to cook, set the table, and have a meal together. As a result, our young people lack basic table manners. With the hands-on practical knowledge, skills, and abilities learned through Socially Savvy Dining Etiquette; our students will be able to navigate casual meals with family and friends or a state dinner at the White House.
