Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Ready, set, shoot! Imagine the excitement in the eyes of 19 second graders when they see themselves in video on our new Promethean Board!
I have been blessed with a group of very enthusiastic second grade learners!
This group of students loves activities that are hands on and they love when they can be a big part of the action. These students attend a magnet school in Connecticut where a huge focus of the instruction is on Social Studies.
My Project
One of the units in our curriculum is the study of our state and the city in which we live. Field trips can be very expensive and weather can be uncooperative. What better way to see all the sights than through a virtual field trip? With this digital camera we will be able to video tape trips that are taken earlier in the school year so that we can visit these places again during the study of our city. I will also be able to explore the city and film the important landmarks that my students learn about. By taking videos of each sight studied, students can travel to them without ever leaving our classroom. Additionally, with a digital camera we would be able to make presentations for Open House and Moving Up night, film students reading so that they can practice fluency, and use videos of field trips and events to help students remember details during Writers Workshop.
Having a digital camera will make a huge impact in today's classroom.
Technology is incredibly important and today's students are products of the digital age. My current class, as well as future classes, will benefit in many ways with the addition of this equipment. Thank you.
